Das erste Album von Camille Émaille und Anna Frey verbindet das Schaffen von zwei aussergewöhnlichen Musikerinnen und zeichnet sich durch ein neuartiges Zusammenspiel von Sprache, Rhythmus und Klang aus. Die Performances der Improvisationsvirtuosin Camille Émaille, zwischen Gongs und Fässern, Becken und Fellen, bilden zarte und gleichzeitig spektakuläre Klangsskulpturen. Auf und durch dieses Musikgebilde, bewegt sich die Rapperin und Lyrikerin Anna Frey, mit ihren poetischen und kritischen Texten, mal in Schweizer Mundart, mal auf Hochdeutsch. Ihr Zusammenspiel folgt einer Dramaturgie unter Hochspannung. Das Album selbst, erinnert an ein musikalisches Gedicht. Es ist eine Freude, diesen Musikerinnen in ihrem lebendigen und wachen Dialog zu folgen. Die Texte bilden, für die deutschsprachigen Hörer:innen eine – in der improvisierten Musik selten gehörte – erweiternde Ebene. Werden die Texte nicht verstanden, können sie als Instrument wahrgenommen werden, im Zusammenspiel mit einer der besten Schlagzeugerinnen der freien Musik.

The first album by Camille Émaille and Anna Frey combines the work of two extraordinary musicians and is characterized by a novel interplay of language, rhythm, and sound. The performances of improvisational virtuoso Camille Émaille, between gongs and barrels, cymbals and skins, create delicate yet spectacular sound sculptures. Rapper and lyricist Anna Frey moves through this musical structure with her poetic and critical texts, sometimes in Swiss dialect, sometimes in standard German. Their interplay follows a high-tension dramaturgy. The album itself is reminiscent of a musical poem. It is a joy to follow these musicians in their lively and alert dialogue. For German-speaking listeners, the lyrics form an expansive layer that is rarely heard in improvised music. If the lyrics are not understood, they can be perceived as an instrument, interacting with one of the best drummers in free music.
